At BC Association for Individualized Technology and Supports for People with Disabilities (BCITS), we work with people who have severe physical disabilities and help them to live as well and as independently as possible. BCITS is the home of two main programs:
At the hub of our work are the talented and committed Respiratory Therapists (RTs), Biomedical Engineers, other staff, and Peer Workers. BCITS is also partnered with highly respected, external Health Professionals who assist in meeting our clients’ needs.
BCITS is fortunate to have a diverse and committed board govern the Association. Members of the board come from all walks of life and bring with them valuable experience and talents which they are continuously sharing for the benefit of BCITS.
BCITS grew out of the Provincial Respiratory Outreach Program (PROP) and the Technology for Independent Living (TIL) Program. The BC Association of Individualized Technology and Supports for People with Disabilities (BCITS) was formed as a non-profit organization on April 1, 2006.
We believe that individuals have the capacity to learn and to develop the skill and knowledge to manage their own respiratory and assistive technology needs. We support clients of BCITS to do this.
